Starting with small work outs or "bursts" of activity does indeed help. At a minimum, it gets you into the "idea" of getting exercise. As you become used to doing small activities such as taking the stairs, it gets easier and easier to work it into your day.
The more often you do this, the better you will feel. I've found that when I exercise, even a little, I feel better, even if I haven't lost any weight. It gives me the motivation to keep moving and to try to reach for bigger goals.

Lose Stomach Fat
How can you lose stomach fat? The answer is you need to lose fat in all areas of your body. Of course you can exercise to target specific areas, but the best way to get the results you crave is to get an overall healthy body.
How do you do it? The answer is easy and something we all know. You need to eat sensibly and get some exercise. It sounds easy enough, so why do we find it difficult? That's VERY easy to answer. We have schedules that are too busy. We eat on the run. We eat portions as served to us and don't realize we may be eating 2 or more portions if you were actually counting the calories!
So what do we do now? Make time to exercise. Even if it's only a 10 minute walk. If you drive somewhere, park further away so you can use the walk to get add to your daily exercise. Use the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator. These things really are easy and can be added to anyone's daily routine.
What about the food? Even fast food chains have some healthy choices, we just have to remember to order them! You can get salads or grilled chicken. Just watch out for the hidden calories in the salad dressings and toppings such as mayo. Learn to "eyeball" portion sizes. And remember to eat fruits and veggies!
